Protect your TV During your Move

couple moving tvOne of the worst things that can happen while moving is finding out your TV was shattered. Here at A-1 Freeman Moving Group, we know it’s no fun to be at your new home with a broken TV. We want to do everything we can to make your move as stressless as it can be here in Dallas, whether you are moving somewhere locally or long distance. We know how hard it can be, so we decided to put together this list of tips and tricks to use when you are getting your TV ready for the move.

In order to move your television, you will require a box that’s will work for your TV. A good idea is to use the TV’s original packaging – if you still have it. If you threw it out, you can buy a package specifically made for moving flat-panel TVs from a hardware store or a moving supply store. You should use a box that is just somewhat bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to bounce around when it’s inside. Transporting expensive and delicate items requires packing and moving knowledge, not just large trucks or specialized equipment. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group our team of experienced movers will help you with your move, even if that means getting your TV ready to load.

Before anything else, you should take a picture of the back of your television with all the cords connected. This will make everything way easier when it’s time to reinstall everything. After taking a picture, get your TV ready to pack. First take out the main power cord, then all other connecting cords. Place everything into a bag together and keep it with the box. You may have a base you need to separate from the television to pack it. When that’s the case, get all the parts in a reclosable bag and keep it with the TV so all the parts stay in one place.

Once you’re finished, you can get the TV all packed up. No matter if your new home is far from Dallas or you are just moving locally, it’s important to know your television is fully covered. Use foam pieces to go over the TV screen, there will be some in your kit if you decided to buy one, or in the box that your TV came in originally if you still have that. The foam not only keeps the screen protected, but it also keeps your television from moving around in the box when you’re moving. Secure the foam pieces using mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover your entire television and prevent it from being scratched.

When your TV is totally covered up it’s up to you to get it in the box! Keep the television upright as you do this, and get it secured by filling spaces with blankets or even clothes. That way the TV won’t move and shift around in its box.

Don’t forget to keep important cables by the TV, whether they’re in a bag taped to the side or in another box.

Then you’re ready! Hopefully you have a moving company here in Dallas to help you out, getting you across the country or your town quickly and safely, with all of your stuff intact. If not, A-1 Freeman Moving Group has got you covered! We can move you fast and efficiently, and we’ll make sure your TV is safe and sound so you have it all up and running when the big game comes around.
