Protect your TV During your Move

couple moving tvSomething horrible that sometimes happens when moving is breaking something important… specifically the TV…. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group, we know it’s horrible to break your TV during the move. We want to make your move as easy as it can be here in Dallas, whether your move is local or long distance. To help you out we create a list of tips and tricks to use when you are getting your TV ready for the move.

In order to move your television, you will require a box that’s will work for transporting your TV. A great a good thing to use is the TV’s original packaging – if you still have it. If you threw it out, you can find a box made specially for moving televisions from either a hardware store or a moving supply company. You should use a box that is just a little bit bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to move around when it’s inside. Transporting fragile and expensive items requires packing and moving training and knowledge, not simply large trucks or specialized equipment. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group we have a team of experienced movers who can help you with your move, however they can, even if it’s just packing up your television.

Before unplugging everything, a good idea is to snap a few pictures behind the television with all the cords plugged in. This will make it much easier when it’s time to reinstall your TV. After this, get your TV ready to pack up. First disconnect the power cord, then any other connecting wires and cords. Get all of it in a bag together and keep it with the box. There might be a base you need to take off of the television in order to fit it in the box. If that’s the case, make sure to put all screws and other parts into a small bag and keep it with the base so it doesn’t get lost.

Once you’re finished, you can get the TV all packed up. No matter if your new home is far from Dallas or you are only moving locally, it’s very important to make sure your television is properly covered. Use foam pieces to go over the TV screen, you will find some in your kit if you decided to buy one, or in the box that your TV came in if you are using that. The foam doesn’t just keep the screen from being scratched, but it also will keep your television from bumping around in the box when you’re moving. Secure the foam pieces by using mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover the whole TV and prevent it from being scratched.

After your TV is completely covered up it’s time to put it inside of the box! Keep your TV upright as you do this, and make sure it’s secure by filling holes with blankets. This will help keep the TV from moving around in the box during the move.

loading boxes into truck The last step is to get the television into the truck. Make sure you keep the box upright and try to put it next to or between other flat surfaced, sturdy furniture, such as your mattress, dresser, or a bookshelf. Don’t forget to have your cables with the TV, whether they’re in a bag taped to the side or in another box.

After that you’re ready to go! Hopefully you have a moving company here in Dallas to help you out, getting you across the country or your town quickly and safely, with all of your stuff intact. If not, A-1 Freeman Moving Group has got you covered! We can move you fast and efficiently, and we’ll make sure your TV is safe and sound so you have it all up and running when the big game comes around.

Best. Move. Ever!
Very pleased with the overall respect and care the men gave to my possessions. Even mailing me very quickly the only thing lost in transit. Would recommend to anyone needing a long distant move.
